Cochin Shipyard begins construction of four electric tugs for Svitzer
Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) and Svitzer have commenced the construction of four advanced battery-electric TRAnsverse 2600e harbor tugs. The project began with a formal steel-cutting ceremony at Cochin Shipyard.
These vessels are designed to support India’s Green Tug Transition Programme and the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. The collaboration aims to strengthen India’s maritime manufacturing ecosystem and domestic capability in electric propulsion and high-specification vessel construction, aligning with the “Make in India” program.
