Coco Chanel: New beauty launches and historical legacy

On the 143rd anniversary of Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel’s birth, the fashion house is marking the occasion through both commercial launches and historical reflection.

Chanel Beauty has introduced new additions to its Le Lift skincare collection and Coco Mademoiselle makeup line, alongside a new Sublimage Les Extraits range. Developed in collaboration with the French startup Damae, the Le Lift products utilize a Pro-Lift complex designed to target collagen and reduce signs of aging.

Historically, Chanel remains a complex figure. While credited with revolutionizing women's fashion through functional and simplified clothing, her biography includes significant ties to the Nazi regime. Records indicate she acted as an intelligence operative for Hitler and maintained a relationship with Hans Günther von Dincklage, an Abwehr officer. She was also involved in Operation Modellhut and attempted to use Aryanization laws to seize control of her company from her Jewish business partners, the Wertheimer brothers.
