Coco Gauff joins World Team Tennis relaunch as player-owner
Coco Gauff has joined the relaunch of World Team Tennis (WTT) as a player-owner of the Florida Flamingos. The mixed-gender league is returning this December after a five-year hiatus, marking its 47th season. The upcoming season will feature three teams: the Florida Flamingos, the New York Empire, and Toronto North, playing a condensed schedule from December 1st to December 15th.
In a departure from traditional sports models, WTT is implementing a new ownership structure where participating players receive equity in the league. Gauff’s role is unique, as her equity is tied specifically to the Florida franchise.
