Coco Gauff targets first 2026 title at Cincinnati Open
American tennis player Coco Gauff enters the Cincinnati Open aiming to secure her first tournament title of the 2026 season. Despite being ranked fourth in the WTA standings, the two-time Grand Slam champion has yet to win a trophy this year, despite reaching finals in Rome and Miami, and achieving deep runs at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the Canadian Open.
Gauff expressed her determination to convert consistent performances into a championship before the season concludes. Speaking at a press conference, she noted, “I feel like I’m getting closer and closer to where I want to end up as a player,” and added that she is striving to “finish with a trophy in my hand.”
While Gauff previously won her first WTA 1000 title in Cincinnati in 2023, her overall record at the tournament has been mixed. She currently holds a season record of 34 wins and 13 losses.
