Cocoa prices rise in New York amid Ivory Coast supply drop

Cocoa prices rose in New York following reports of a significant decline in deliveries from the Ivory Coast, the world's leading producer. For the 2026/27 season, port deliveries in the Ivory Coast fell by 41%, totaling 78,212 tons compared to 133,209 tons during the same period last year.

Market analysts suggest that the potential intensification of El Niño could further impact commodity markets. Projections indicate that a severe El Niño event could lead to significant price volatility, with cocoa and coffee potentially benefiting from supply constraints, while natural gas could see a decline.

In other commodities, coffee prices saw a slight decrease due to profit-taking and increased short-term supply, while orange juice and sugar also experienced declines in recent sessions.
