COCOBOD completes 2026 DDEP obligations with GH¢2.3bn payment

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has completed its mandatory 2026 payment obligations to bondholders affected by the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP). The Board settled GH¢2.3 billion on September 1, 2026, bringing its total DDEP-related payments for the year to GH¢2.68 billion when combined with a GH¢376.3 million coupon payment made in March.

Additionally, COCOBOD settled GH¢162 million in July 2026 for Cocoa Bill holders who did not participate in the DDEP. The Board stated these actions are part of an effort to ensure the financial sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa sector through responsible financial management.

This settlement follows a broader pattern of debt management in Ghana. In August 2026, the government paid GH¢10.82 billion to DDEP bondholders, marking the third coupon payment made entirely in cash. Since 2025, total DDEP payments by the government have reached GH¢41.36 billion.
