Cocody officials deny fraud claims as FCC investigates data leak

The Cocody City Hall has issued a statement denying allegations of misappropriating approximately one billion CFA francs. The administration clarified that the disputed funds involve an internal dispute within the Mutuelle des agents de la Mairie de Cocody (MUTAMAC), an autonomous social mutual fund that receives no municipal subsidies. Mayor Jean-Marc Yacé has characterized the accusations as baseless attempts at character assassination and has indicated that legal action may be taken against those spreading defamatory information.

In a separate matter, the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) is investigating a significant data leak involving a lost investigator's diary. The document, reportedly lost during an operation in Goodlands in June 2026, contains sensitive information including names of suspects, bank details, license plate numbers, and operational maps. The leaked data includes names of active police officers, a former police commissioner, and companies currently under investigation. FCC Director General Titrudeo Dawoodarry confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to determine the motives behind the disclosure.
