Codelco launches Indigenous Training Academy for local development
Codelco has officially launched its Indigenous Training Academy, a pilot project designed to foster local development in the territories where the corporation operates. The initiative offers 200 spots to members of indigenous communities within the influence areas of the company’s Northern Operations, specifically covering Calama Indígena, Alto El Loa, and El Salvador.
The program utilizes remote learning through Udemy licenses funded by Codelco, allowing participants to access content via computers or mobile devices at their own pace. The curriculum includes leadership, entrepreneurship, negotiation, project management, labor skills, and applications for public and private funding. Additionally, the courses cover modern technological tools such as artificial intelligence and innovation.
Claudia Sandoval, Codelco’s Social Management Manager, stated that the chosen topics directly address requirements identified within local indigenous communities. The goal is to provide practical tools for sustainable projects, financial access, and digital competency to help residents navigate a transforming productive environment.
