Codo mayor faces scrutiny over macro-farm projects on family land

Controversy has emerged in Codo, Aragon, regarding the proposed construction of four macro-farms on land owned by the family of the local mayor and national deputy, Raúl Cuevas. The projects, promoted by Explotaciones Ganaderas Estiche (part of the Cincaporc group), are facing significant local opposition.

Residents of the municipality have reportedly been without potable water for years due to high sulfate levels in the local aquifer. While the mayor initially voted in favor of declaring the projects to be of public interest, he was forced to withdraw the vote following reports of irregularities from the municipal secretary. As of now, the documentation has not been submitted to the Aragonese Institute of Environmental Management (Inaga) or the Provincial Urbanism Council.

Political opposition groups, including Chunta, Existe, IU, and the Socialist party, have criticized the lack of transparency and called for an investigation into potential conflicts of interest. The People's Party (PP) has maintained silence regarding the matter.
