Coespris conducts sanitary surveillance of alcohol retailers

The State Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Coespris) is conducting ongoing sanitary surveillance in establishments that sell alcoholic beverages. These inspections aim to ensure compliance with health regulations and protect public health, often triggered by citizen reports.

During these visits, officials inspect general facility conditions, including infrastructure, maintenance, access to potable water, and sanitary services. They also verify that pest control services are authorized and that required health signage and notices from the Ministry of Health are displayed.

Specific to alcoholic products, inspections focus on compliance with the Official Mexican Standard NOM-142-SSA1/SCFI-2014. This includes verifying product branding, net content, alcohol content, and ensuring that ingredients and health warnings are clearly visible and written in Spanish. If non-compliance is detected, Coespris is authorized to implement security measures, such as the seizure of products.
