Coffee and Avocado Show Health Benefits in Recent Studies

Researchers at the University of Düsseldorf found that caffeine activates the mitochondrial protein p27, protecting heart‑blood‑vessel cells and promoting cardiac repair after a heart attack. The study, conducted on mice, suggests that four cups of coffee a day may aid heart health in older adults and those with pre‑diabetes, while warning that high‑caffeine drinks can raise blood pressure and should be avoided by teenagers.

Separate research highlighted the nutritional value of avocado. Its high content of monounsaturated oleic acid stabilises blood‑sugar levels, reduces visceral fat and, together with lutein, supports brain function, concentration and memory. Regular avocado consumption was linked to a healthier distribution of body fat and may help prevent weight gain around the abdomen.
