Coffee history and morning consumption health advice

The term ‘java’ used in English to refer to coffee has historical roots in Indonesia. During the 17th century, the Dutch introduced coffee plants to Southeast Asia, where they flourished in regions including Sumatra, Bali, and Java. Due to the island's significant role in the global coffee trade, the term ‘Java Coffee’ became widely recognized, eventually evolving into a general synonym for coffee in the English language.

Regarding morning consumption habits, health experts suggest drinking water immediately upon waking before consuming coffee. Dr. Lisa Ganjhu of NYU Langone Health notes that drinking water helps replenish fluids lost through respiration and perspiration during sleep. Proper hydration is essential to prevent dehydration, which can impair cognitive function and focus. Additionally, consuming water before coffee may assist individuals prone to gastric discomfort or acid reflux by aiding digestion and soothing the digestive tract.
