Coffee industry adopts new technology as health studies link consumption to body composition

Recent developments in the coffee industry and health research highlight shifting trends in production and consumption. In Vietnam, coffee producers are moving toward integrated supply chains to ensure quality and transparency. Companies like Lopha Coffee are adopting advanced technologies, such as ultrasonic cleaning, to remove impurities from coffee beans using high-frequency waves in water without chemical additives.

On the health front, a study conducted by the University of Oulu in Finland involving over 2,200 participants suggests a link between high coffee consumption and improved body composition. The research indicates that frequent coffee drinkers tend to have lower levels of total and visceral fat, as well as higher skeletal muscle mass, compared to those who drink less, even when body mass index (BMI) remains similar. The study also noted potential differences in hormone levels and blood metabolites, such as branched-chain amino acids (BCAA), which are relevant to insulin resistance and metabolic health.
