Coffee machine manufacturers introduce new brewing technologies
The coffee machine market is seeing new innovations in brewing technology and sustainability. Keurig has introduced the Keurig Alta system, which utilizes AltaRounds—compact, plastic-free portions of ground coffee held together by a plant-based coating. The brewer is designed to read recipe codes on these rounds to automatically adjust pressure, temperature, and brewing style for both coffee and double-shot espresso.
Other manufacturers are also introducing new formats. Lavazza has launched the Tablì system, featuring coffee ‘tablets’ made entirely from ultra-compacted grounds without a coating, allowing them to be disposed of in food waste systems. Additionally, Italian manufacturer Lelit has released the Victoria3 and Elizabeth3 espresso machines, which feature flow-control systems for manual pressure moderation and dual-boiler capabilities for simultaneous brewing and steaming.
