Coffee producers in Brazil launch new quality awards and regional festivals

Agricultural initiatives in Brazil are highlighting specialty coffee production through new awards and regional festivals. In the Chapada de Minas region, Sebrae Minas and the Instituto do Café da Chapada de Minas (ICCM) have opened registrations for the 5th Quality Award for Coffees of the Chapada de Minas Region. To facilitate participation, new sample collection points have been established in six municipalities: Capelinha, Aricanduva, Itamarandiba, Água Boa, Angelândia, and Diamantina. The competition aims to reward high-quality lots that have achieved Geographical Indication status, with the final scheduled for November 5, 2026.

In São Paulo, the first Cachaça Festival in Ribeirão Preto will feature a dedicated program for Alta Mogiana specialty coffees. Promoted by Sebrae-SP, the meeting of specialty coffee producers will bring together approximately 30 producers to offer workshops, tastings, and technical demonstrations. The event focuses on the Alta Mogiana region, which holds a recognized Geographical Indication covering 23 municipalities. Educational sessions will cover topics such as coffee roasting, water preparation, and various brewing methods like V60 and Aeropress to promote the territorial identity and quality of the local production.
