Coffs Harbour approves $8 million funding for Jetty Strip upgrades

The City of Coffs Harbour Council has approved a Development Contribution Plan to secure approximately $8 million for infrastructure upgrades in the Jetty Strip precinct. This funding represents about a quarter of the total project cost.

Under the new plan, developers building within the immediate Jetty Strip area will contribute $6,381.32 per lot or dwelling, while those building elsewhere in the local government area (excluding Woolgoolga) will pay $789.10 per lot.

The funds are earmarked for several improvements outlined in the Jetty Strip Structure Plan, including the realignment of Harbour Drive, new footpaths, dedicated bicycle lanes, landscaping, outdoor dining zones, and new traffic lights at the intersection of Harbour Drive, Orlando Street, and Marina Drive.

Acting Mayor George Cecato noted the urgency of the plan due to approximately $500 million worth of anticipated private and government development in the precinct. City Planning and Communities Director Ian Fitzgibbon stated the works focus on road and active transport links to accommodate expected growth.
