Cofides Invests €20 million for 30% Stake in Amper's Offshore Wind Subsidiary, Expanding A Coruña Facility
Cofides, the state‑linked public‑private fund manager under Spain's Ministry of Economy, will invest €20 million in a capital increase to acquire a 30% equity stake in WindWaves, the offshore wind subsidiary of the Amper Group. The injection will finance the construction of new facilities at the Port of A Coruña capable of handling both fixed and floating offshore wind projects for international markets. Additional funds will support a digitalisation programme, the upgrade of the As Somozas site to back the new plant, industrial‑scale validation of processes and the start of serial production of rigid sails for maritime decarbonisation. Amper’s CEO Enrique López said the investment “will maximise the investments that reinforce the group’s leadership in structures for marine wind, both fixed and floating, contributing to Europe’s energy independence and strategic autonomy.” Cofides chair Ángela Pérez added that the operation “accompanies Amper’s growth through WindWaves, which combines technological innovation with a clear international vocation.” The closing of the transaction is subject to approval by the bond‑holder committee of Amper’s 2024 bond programme, expected in September.
