COGITI celebrates 50th anniversary in Alcoy
The Official College of Industrial Technical Graduates and Engineers of Alicante (COGITI) celebrated its 50th anniversary with an institutional event at the Industrial Circle in Alcoy on September 12. The ceremony brought together professionals, academic representatives, and regional authorities to commemorate five decades of technical and societal contribution.
Established officially on September 16, 1976, via Royal Decree 2134/76, the institution was formed through a strategic union of the Alicante and Alcoy delegations. This merger allowed the organization to meet the statutory requirement of 300 professionals. The first governing board was led by Juan Antonio Montesinos García, with Enrique Masiá Ferrer presiding over the Alcoy delegation.
Today, COGITI represents more than 2,000 technical industrial engineers in the province of Alicante and is part of the national COGITI Spain network, which includes over 90,000 members. The event highlighted the profession's role in economic development, energy transition, and Industry 4.0, while honoring long-serving members with tributes for 25, 40, and 50 years of service.
