Coimbatore stray dogs prevent alleged sexual assault of mentally ill woman

In Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, a group of stray dogs intervened to prevent the alleged sexual assault of a mentally ill woman sleeping by a roadside in the Thudiyalur area.

According to police reports, the incident occurred near the service road of a railway overbridge in Ashokapuram. CCTV footage captured the sequence of events, showing a juvenile approaching the woman. As the individual attempted the assault, the dogs barked aggressively and pounced on him, biting his legs and chasing him away from the scene.

The crime was discovered by authorities while they were reviewing surveillance footage for an unrelated investigation involving a fire at a local petty shop. Based on the video evidence, Thudiyalur police identified and arrested the suspect, a minor, who has since been sent to a juvenile observation home.
