Coimbra City Council Honors Environment Minister for Flood Response
The Câmara Municipal of Coimbra voted to award the honorary key of the city to Environment Minister Maria da Graça Carvalho in recognition of her "exemplary" monitoring of the Mondego River floods earlier this year. The motion, supported by the municipal executive led by Mayor Ana Abrunhosa, highlighted the minister’s “exceptional attention, dedication and commitment” during one of the toughest periods in recent local history. The proposal passed with a single abstention from Liberal councillor Celso Monteiro. In the same session, the council approved gold‑level city medals for APA president José Pimenta Machado and several other figures for their contributions to flood recovery, to be presented on City Day, 4 July.
