Coimbra hosts Festa das Latas with musical events and traffic alerts

The Festa das Latas e Imposição das Insígnias 2026 has commenced in Coimbra, beginning with musical performances at Praça da Canção. The opening night featured electronic music, headlined by DJ Kura, who performed a techno version of ‘Verdes Anos’ alongside guitarist Diogo Mendes.

Due to the upcoming parade organized by the Associação Académica de Coimbra, significant traffic and transit disruptions are expected in the Alta and Baixa districts of Coimbra on Sunday, October 4. Road closures will begin at 10:00, affecting several streets including Rua Padre António Vieira, Avenida Sá da Bandeira, and Largo da Portagem.

Public transport will also be impacted; SMTUC bus lines will undergo route changes starting at 14:30, and Metrobus circulation between Loja do Cidadão and Praça da República will be interrupted from 12:00. Authorities have also implemented restrictions on public space occupation, outdoor seating, and street vending along the parade route to ensure safety.
