Coimbra launches historic health ecosystem partnership

The University of Coimbra Hospital Center, the University of Coimbra and several regional health entities signed a Charter of Commitment for the Centre Region’s health system, joining 21 municipalities and inter‑municipal communities from Coimbra, Leiria and Viseu Dão Lafões. The agreement creates a strategic development programme aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation, research, innovation and integrated care across the region. International memoranda of understanding were also signed with Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the World Health Summit and Aga Khan University, together with a letter of intent with the World Health Organization to establish a WHO Collaborating Centre focused on life‑course integrated care. The initiative seeks to build a data‑driven, results‑oriented health policy framework and position Coimbra as a reference point for integrated health services.
