Coinbase appoints former xAI CFO Anthony Armstrong to board

Coinbase has appointed Anthony Armstrong to its board of directors, effective September 1. Armstrong, the former Chief Financial Officer for Elon Musk’s xAI and X Corp., will also serve on the company’s Audit and Compliance Committee. This appointment increases Coinbase’s board from nine to ten members.

Armstrong brings a background in investment banking from nearly a decade at Morgan Stanley, where he served as vice chairman. His recent experience includes serving as a senior adviser at the Department of Government Efficiency and managing finances for Musk’s technology ventures.

Coinbase stated that Armstrong’s expertise in scaling operations and his experience with high-level deal-making will support the company’s focus on developing technologies for 24/7 market rails, including liquidity, settlement, and regulatory mechanisms.
