Coinbase assets see growth as Ethereum rises 71% and Base volume hits $500 million
Coinbase-related entities have reported significant growth in both asset performance and network activity. Coinbase Institutional noted that Ethereum saw a 71% gain during the third quarter. Despite this rally, the firm reported that the share of ETH supply held at a profit remains outside of its designated “warning zone,” a metric used to identify potential sell pressure from long-held positions.
Simultaneously, the Coinbase-built Ethereum layer 2 network, Base, reached $500 million in weekly trading volume. This growth has been driven largely by tokenized stocks, which represent shares of traditional companies like Apple, Nvidia, Google, and Meta. These tokens are backed by real shares held via the brokerage provider Alpaca, though access is currently restricted to eligible investors outside the United States.
On the Base network, Aerodrome remains the dominant exchange, capturing approximately 76% of tokenized-stock trading volume, while Uniswap v4 accounts for roughly 19%. The total value locked in Base's decentralized finance ecosystem reached an all-time high of approximately $6.2 billion in late September 2026.
