Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong visits Singapore to expand APAC presence
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong visited Singapore in mid-September to engage with institutional clients, regulators, and developers, signaling a strategic focus on the Asia-Pacific region.
During the visit, Armstrong held a roundtable on September 14 with developers working on Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer-2 network. Discussions centered on projects involving trading, finance, payments, stablecoins, and tokenized stocks. The visit also included meetings with local engineering teams and appearances on Bloomberg Television.
Coinbase operates in Singapore as a Major Payment Institution registered with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), allowing it to provide digital payment token and cross-border remittance services. The company currently maintains an engineering presence in the city-state and aims to expand its local headcount from approximately 150 employees to 200 by the end of 2026, focusing on institutional-grade infrastructure and advanced trading products.
