Coinbase expands crypto lending with new collateral and fixed-rate loans
Coinbase is expanding its crypto-backed lending services by introducing new collateral assets and fixed-rate borrowing options. The platform has added Hyperliquid (HYPE) and Zcash (ZEC) to its list of eligible collateral, allowing users to secure dollar-denominated loans of up to $100,000 without selling their holdings.
In a separate expansion of its credit offerings, Coinbase has launched fixed-rate, fixed-maturity loans powered by Morpho Midnight. This integration allows users to borrow USDC against Bitcoin (BTC) with a predetermined interest rate and repayment date, providing an alternative to the variable-rate model. While Coinbase manages the user experience, Morpho provides the credit infrastructure and Base serves as the settlement layer. This move follows the success of Coinbase’s existing variable-rate loans, which currently exceed $1.4 billion in active loans.
