Coinbase expands trading with stock options and crypto prediction markets

Coinbase is expanding its financial services through its ‘Everything Exchange’ strategy, introducing both traditional stock options and crypto price prediction markets to its platform.

Through Coinbase Capital Markets, a FINRA and SIPC member, eligible U.S. customers can now access U.S. stock options. This service allows users to buy long call and put contracts, with securities execution, clearing, and custody provided by Apex Clearing Corporation. This move aims to integrate traditional equities and derivatives with the company’s existing cryptocurrency offerings.

Additionally, the exchange has launched live crypto price prediction markets. These binary event contracts allow users to wager on the direction of assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and BNB over various timeframes, starting as short as 15 minutes. These markets are offered through Coinbase Financial Markets, which is a member of the CFTC and NFA. While available to many U.S. users, access is restricted in certain states, such as Nevada.
