Coinbase expands USDC use in global payments and derivatives platforms
Coinbase has broadened the use of its USDC stablecoin through two major initiatives. In partnership with cross‑border payment platform MassPay, the exchange will offer a stablecoin‑powered international payment service that operates in 180 countries. The service lets customers move between fiat, USDC and other digital assets, with transaction costs falling 40‑70% compared with traditional wire transfers and settlement times dropping from days to near‑instant.
Separately, Coinbase has integrated USDC into the on‑chain derivatives venue Hyperliquid, enabling native stablecoin settlement and collateral flows for perpetual futures and other high‑performance trading products. The move reduces latency for market makers and traders, deepens liquidity, and further blurs the line between centralized and decentralized finance.
