Coinbase introduces AI agent trading and multi-user business accounts

Coinbase has launched new features aimed at expanding its platform capabilities for both automated software and corporate entities. The company introduced a dedicated registration process for AI agents, allowing users to connect tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, and Perplexity to their Coinbase accounts. These AI agents can browse markets and execute trades based on specific user instructions and permissions, though Coinbase emphasizes that the AI follows user-set limits rather than making independent investment decisions.

In tandem with these automation tools, Coinbase has updated its infrastructure to support multi-user business accounts. This technical overhaul separates the identity of the account owner from the individual employees acting on the account. By distinguishing between ownership and execution, the system provides a clear audit trail that identifies which specific employee initiated a trade or review, ensuring that permissions and attribution are maintained within a controlled corporate workflow.
