CoinGecko migrates exchange cybersecurity scores to CORE3

CoinGecko, a cryptocurrency data aggregator, has migrated the cybersecurity component of its Trust Score for centralized exchanges (CEXs) from CER.live to CORE3, a risk infrastructure layer developed by Hacken. This update affects 166 exchanges and aims to provide advanced assessments of emerging risks to help prevent potential losses.

Users on the platform can continue to view cybersecurity ratings based on key indicators such as penetration testing, live bug bounty programs, and Proof of Reserves audits.

A recent snapshot from CORE3, which evaluated 193 exchanges as of September 1, 2026, highlighted significant transparency gaps in the industry. Data showed that only 24 exchanges had verified reserves through Proof of Reserves, 53 provided penetration test results, and 99 operated live bug bounty programs. Only 10 exchanges met all three criteria, while 94 exchanges provided no evidence across any of the assessed components.
