Edgar Grospiron resigns as 2030 French Alps Olympics chief

Edgar Grospiron, the former Olympic moguls champion, has resigned as president of the organizing committee (COJOP) for the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps. His departure follows months of internal governance crises, leadership instability, and mounting tensions between the committee and key stakeholders, including the French government and regional authorities.

Grospiron, who took office in February 2025, stated on LinkedIn that the conditions were no longer met for him to continue the project. He described the exit as a “chosen, organized and assumed transition” intended to allow the organization to enter a new operational phase. The committee noted that during his 19-month tenure, the project established its identity, validated site maps, and secured initial partnerships.

However, the committee has faced significant turnover, including the departures of the director general, chief operating officer, and communications director. An extraordinary general assembly is scheduled for September 14 to organize an interim leadership period until a new president is appointed.
