Cold drinks gain popularity in France and Pakistan

In France, iced coffee beverages are becoming a staple year‑round. At a coffee shop in Pau, co‑manager Laure Petit reports that nine out of ten sales are now cold drinks, and industry analysts note a 15 % annual growth in the segment, driven by a wide range of flavours such as caramel, hazelnut and chocolate.

In Pakistan, sales of flavored bottled water surge during heat waves, with weekly volumes rising more than 110 % when temperatures peak. Retail spokesperson Karma Ghozzi says shoppers are seeking “fresh, healthy” options that add a hint of taste without high sugar content. Dietitian Anne‑Charlotte Jalhay clarifies that most products contain 99.9 % water and a trace of natural flavour.

Both markets show consumers favour convenient, chilled beverages that combine refreshment with perceived health benefits, prompting retailers to expand shelf space for these items.
