Brazil weather: Cold fronts and frost in the South, extreme heat in the North
Brazil is experiencing extreme weather contrasts across its regions. A polar air mass is moving through the South and Southeast, bringing intense cold and the risk of frost. In states like Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, and Santa Catarina, temperatures are expected to drop significantly, with some areas potentially seeing values near or below 0°C. Authorities have issued alerts for frost and potential health risks such as hypothermia and respiratory issues.
Conversely, much of the North, Northeast, and parts of the Center-West are facing intense heat and critical low humidity levels. In some areas, temperatures may reach up to 40°C, while relative humidity could drop as low as 12%, triggering orange alerts for health risks. The weather pattern remains highly unstable, with isolated thunderstorms predicted in parts of the Amazon region.
