Coldiretti expands local food integration in Italian hospitals
Coldiretti is implementing new protocols across Italy to integrate local agricultural products into hospital menus and school cafeterias to promote healthy eating habits and support short supply chains.
In the Molise region, an operational protocol has been established with IRCCS Neuromed in Pozzilli, with an imminent agreement expected with the Cardarelli Hospital in Campobasso. Additionally, a collaboration with the Regional School Office aims to introduce nutritional education in schools. The organization is also working with APS Zest Hub to revitalize the October Fair of Larino, where the Campagna Amica village promotes zero-kilometer food.
In the Veneto region, the Campagna Amica initiative is debuting at the Ca’ Foncello hospital in Treviso. Organized by Coldiretti Treviso and Ulss 2 Marca trevigiana, the event allows citizens to purchase seasonal fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and other local specialties directly from producers. This initiative is part of the Health Week, which includes 160 activities across the province to strengthen the link between agriculture, nutrition, and disease prevention.
