Coldiretti Pavia calls for national strategic plan for wine sector
Silvia Garavaglia, president of Coldiretti Pavia, has called for the immediate implementation of a National Strategic Plan for the wine sector. This appeal comes as the grape harvest in the Oltrepò Pavese region reaches a critical stage, with white grape collection nearing completion and red varieties beginning.
If weather conditions remain favorable, the harvest in Oltrepò is expected to conclude in the first decade of September. However, current production is being impacted by intense heat and water scarcity. The sector is also facing challenges from rising production costs and slowing demand.
Coldiretti Pavia advocates for a long-term strategy to maintain competitiveness. Key priorities include investing in research and risk management to combat climate change, promoting wine culture and enotourism, ensuring price transparency, and strengthening the promotion of Italian wine in international markets.
