Coldiretti warns tobacco regulations must protect agricultural supply chain
Gennarino Masiello, Vice President of Coldiretti, has issued a warning regarding tobacco regulations in Italy. Speaking at a roadshow in Naples organized by Coldiretti and Philip Morris Italia, Masiello emphasized the need for a balance between anti-smoking measures and the protection of the agricultural supply chain.
Masiello cautioned that regulations from the European Commission or other institutions may inadvertently damage the legitimate production chain while failing to effectively curb smoking or address illegal products originating from non-EU countries. He highlighted that long-term supply chain agreements are vital for both agricultural businesses and the industry, as they allow for better planning of activities, remuneration, and procurement.
