Cole Davies wins 250 Pro Motocross Championship

New Zealander Cole Davies has secured the 250 Pro Motocross Championship, completing a rare double by also winning the AMA Supercross 250SX East title earlier this year. Davies clinched the outdoor title at Ironman Raceway in Indiana on his 19th birthday.

Entering the final round with a 14-point lead over American rival Levi Kitchen, Davies secured the championship after Kitchen crashed during the first moto and was unable to continue. Davies finished third in that race, which was sufficient to guarantee the title. He later finished 13th in the second moto.

Davies is the 13th rider in 50 years to achieve this double and the third-youngest to do so. He is also the first New Zealander to win the outdoor motocross title. He will move into the SMX playoff races in September as the top seed.
