École de la 2e chance helps youth reintegrate into employment

The École de la 2e chance (E2C) in Bordeaux is working to reintegrate young people who have dropped out of the educational system. The program utilizes a combination of internships and classroom instruction to help students prepare for employment.

One specific focus of the curriculum is improving oral expression and reducing linguistic tics to better prepare students for job interviews. The E2C network, which began in the mid-1990s, targets the approximately 900,000 young people who are currently neither in training nor employed. In 2025, 17,917 individuals joined these centers, with 61% successfully returning to professional training or finding work upon completion of the program.
