Cole Hauser discusses Dutton Ranch challenges without Taylor Sheridan

Cole Hauser, who reprises Rip Wheeler in the Paramount+ spin‑off Dutton Ranch, said the first season was difficult because series creator Taylor Sheridan was not involved. He cited new writers, directors and the departure of original showrunner Chad Feehan after the inaugural season, noting that the only familiar elements on set were co‑stars Finn Little and Kelly Reilly and director Christina Alexandra Voros.

Hauser said the crew worked hard to adapt, and the experience brought the cast closer together. He expressed pride in what was accomplished and looks forward to season two, where Sheridan is expected to have a more active storytelling role. Benjamin Cavell, formerly of SEAL Team, has been tapped as the new showrunner for season two.
