Colegio de Nutricionistas del Perú warns of rising cancer in young people
The Colegio de Nutricionistas del Perú (CNP) has issued an alert regarding an alarming increase in cancer cases among young people, specifically targeting the millennial generation (those born between 1982 and 1994).
Citing research from the journal The Lancet, the CNP notes that high consumption of fast food, ultra-processed foods, and excessive sugar is a primary driver. There are 17 types of cancer frequently affecting this demographic, including cancers of the colon, rectum, kidney, liver, and small intestine.
To mitigate these risks, the CNP recommends that parents prioritize healthy diets for children and adolescents. Suggested dietary habits include consuming proteins low in saturated fats, various colorful vegetables, legumes, cereals, and fiber-rich foods such as quinoa. The organization urges individuals to minimize or eliminate the consumption of ultra-processed foods to prevent long-term health damage.
