Colegio Máximo de San José serves as filming location for ‘La Cautiva’

The historical Jesuit building, formerly the Colegio Máximo de San José and currently the Centro Loyola in San Miguel, serves as the primary filming location for the miniseries ‘La Cautiva’. The six-episode production, directed by Paula Hernández and Jazmín Stuart, uses the 10,000-square-meter complex to reconstruct a cloistered convent where the plot follows a young woman named Clara through a narrative of abuse and subjugation.

The building holds significant historical weight, as it was a central site for the religious formation and life of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, now Pope Francis. He studied, taught, and served as rector at the institution for six years. The complex is located on Dr. Ricardo Balbín Avenue, which has also been renamed Avenida Papa Francisco.
