Colegio Nacional Bartolomé Mitre begins restoration of historical fences
The historical iron fences of the Colegio Nacional Bartolomé Mitre have begun arriving for restoration and reinstallation around the school's perimeter. The project, initiated by Education Minister Susana Montaldo, aims to return the original ironwork that was removed over 60 years ago in 1961.
Engineer Pablo Durando, from the Subdirectorate of Technical Education, reported that the first batch of 29 panels has arrived, with a total of 97 panels expected. These solid iron panels weigh approximately 300 kilograms each and date back to roughly 1912. The restoration involves an agreement between the Ministry of Education and the local municipality to exchange existing fencing from other sites to recover the original pieces.
The installation will cover the perimeter along Muñecas Street, Sarmiento Avenue, and most of Santa Fe Street, with Maipú Street remaining to be completed.
