Colégio Meta to host sports history exhibition

Colégio Meta will host an exhibition titled ‘Colégio Meta: há 48 anos fazendo campeões’ (Colégio Meta: 48 years making champions) on October 13 and 14. Held at the institution's gymnasium, the event aims to preserve and celebrate the school's sporting history.

Organized by sports journalist and historian Manoel Façanha Tavares Neto, the exhibition will feature 90 photographs and newspaper engravings. The collection seeks to transform fleeting athletic moments into permanent visual narratives, focusing on the human essence of sports rather than just scores.

Highlights include records of the school's male basketball and female handball teams from the 2006 Sub-14 School Olympics in Poços de Caldas. The exhibition will also honor Olympic champion Carlão, an alumnus from the 1980s, by displaying his student ID and a photograph of his visit to the school following his 1992 Barcelona Olympic victory.
