Colima advances in educational rankings and expands student support

The state of Colima is reporting significant progress in educational initiatives. The State Institute for Adult Education (IEEA) has moved from 31st to 17th place nationally in reducing educational lag between January and December 2025. During this period, 3,105 individuals received certificates of completion, with an additional 2,598 completions recorded as of September 2026. Educational lag remains most concentrated in the municipalities of Manzanillo, Tecomán, and Colima.

In addition to adult education, Governor Indira Vizcaíno Silva has launched the fifth consecutive year of the ‘ColiBecas Computadoras’ program in Cuauhtémoc to reduce the digital divide. The Governor noted that Colima is the first state in Mexico to provide scholarships to all children and youth from preschool through university.

Furthermore, the University of Colima (UdeC) and the Federation of Colima Students (FEC) have distributed 200 transportation scholarships to support student mobility and academic continuity, a program that has been active since 2013.
