Colima criminal judges face workload 6.6 times national average

Criminal judges in Colima, Mexico, are facing a workload 6.6 times higher than the national average. According to data from the civil organization México Evalúa, each criminal judge in the state handled 2,961 cases in 2024, compared to a national mean of 449.

Data derived from INEGI censuses indicates a significant judicial backlog in the region. The Data Justicia platform reports a total universe of 3,082 cases per judge, with 1,538 cases currently pending conclusion. The report also notes that the indicator for concluded cases stands at zero, which includes sentences obtained through oral trials, abbreviated procedures, and other forms of termination.

Additionally, the state reported a rate of 3,043.2 investigation files per 100,000 inhabitants during 2024.
