Colima Governor reaffirms support for sugar cane sector

Colima Governor Indira Vizcaíno Silva has reaffirmed her administration's support for sugar cane producers, describing them as a fundamental pillar of the state's economy and social development.

Speaking during National Sugar Cane Day, Vizcaíno highlighted recent federal initiatives led by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to benefit the sector. These measures include the distribution of free fertilizers, the inclusion of producers in the 'Producción para el Bienestar' program, and an increase in sugar export quotas to the United States. She also noted efforts to strengthen domestic sugar consumption.

The Governor emphasized that the current federal government is more willing to listen to and address the needs of producers compared to previous years, facilitating a more active follow-up agenda. Carlos Seoane Castro, president of the National Chamber of Sugar and Alcohol Industries, characterized the current situation as a fundamental agreement for the agroindustry.
