Colima health authorities launch dengue prevention campaign

The Colima State Government, through the Secretariat of Health, is intensifying prevention efforts against mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, zika, and chikungunya. This initiative comes in response to the rainy season, which increases the risk of disease transmission.

The government has introduced the ‘Lava, tapa, voltea, tira y poda’ (Wash, cover, flip, discard, and prune) strategy. This campaign encourages citizens to take simple actions to prevent mosquito breeding, such as washing and covering water containers, discarding objects that collect water, and keeping yards free of debris. Additionally, residents are advised to prune grass and clear brush around homes.

To complement community efforts, health services are conducting weekly nebulization routes and vector control brigade patrols to mitigate the spread of these illnesses.
