Colima records historic high in lodging tax revenue

The state of Colima has achieved a record high in lodging tax collection, reaching 35.2 million pesos in 2025. This figure represents the highest collection in the last six years, according to data from the State Secretariat of Planning, Finance, and Administration.

Tax revenue has shown continuous growth since 2020, when collections stood at 13.4 million pesos. The upward trend continued through 2021 (20.3 million), 2022 (23.8 million), 2023 (27 million), and 2024 (29.3 million). For 2026, accumulated revenue reached 26.5 million pesos by the end of September.

The lodging tax, which amounts to 3% of the cost of each night-room, applies to both traditional hotels and digital platforms such as Airbnb. These funds are directed to the State Tourism Promotion Trust to finance visibility campaigns and strategies for the region's various attractions, including the beaches of Manzanillo and the cultural sites of Comala.
