Colima University Theater awarded federal funding for technical upgrades

The PAICE jury approved a federal grant of 999,000 pesos for the Universidad de Colima’s Teatro Universitario "Coronel Pedro Torres Ortiz". The funding will be used to rehabilitate the venue and install advanced sound and acoustic equipment, bringing the theater up to standards required for large‑scale performances. The project, part of the 2026 call of the Programa de Apoyo a la Infraestructura Cultural de los Estados, aims to benefit university ensembles such as the Ballet Folklórico de la UdeC, the Grupo Cantares and the Coral Femenina, as well as the broader student body. Formal legal procedures with the Dirección General de Vinculación Cultural of the Secretaría de Cultura Federal will follow before resource transfer and work commencement.
