Colin Farrell discusses care for son with Angelman syndrome
Actor Colin Farrell has spoken openly about the challenges of raising his eldest son, James, who lives with Angelman syndrome. The rare genetic disorder affects the nervous system, often resulting in intellectual disabilities, epilepsy, balance and coordination issues, and significant communication difficulties.
James, 23, was diagnosed in 2007. Due to the severity of his condition, which requires constant care for daily activities such as hygiene and eating, Farrell and James' mother, Kim Bordenave, sought legal guardianship in 2021. Farrell has described the ongoing commitment required to support his son's health and well-being.
